Alzheimer's New Jersey hosts Annual "Walk to Fight Alzheimer's®" events throughout the state
MORRISTOWN, NJ - Alzheimer's New Jersey's will hold its inaugural Skylands Regional Walk in Morris County on Sunday, September 30 at the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown as part of its 2018 Walk to Fight Alzheimer's® campaign comprised of five regional walks.
Alzheimer's New Jersey has had a strong presence in Morris County for more than 20 years serving the community through support groups, community education and healthcare professional training programs. This new Walk will expand the organization's presence in Morris County, further raising awareness about this important health issue that is impacting a growing number of New Jersey families including those in Morris County.
Stephen Fromme will serve as Skylands Regional Walk Chairperson. Fromme worked in the mortgage banking business for more than 20 years as a highly recognized consultant. However, his career path shifted into the insurance sector at the time his grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Soon, he decided to make another shift, focusing on the Elder Care Industry.
"I quickly became aware of how difficult and overwhelming it can be dealing with a loved one who is suffering with Alzheimer's, and I found myself wanting to help families going through the same situation," said Fromme, President and CEO of Golden Family Guidance, Inc., based in Morris County. "I am thrilled to hold a position within this year's Walk to Fight Alzheimer's as we are supporting a cause that I hold dear both personally and professionally."
Walk to Fight Alzheimer's is the largest event for the organization to raise awareness and funds to support local programs for those impacted by Alzheimer's disease and other dementias in New Jersey. Other walk locations will be in Ocean, Hudson, Mercer and Bergen Counties. One hundred percent of the funds raised from Walk to Fight Alzheimer's support Garden State individuals and families through Alzheimer's New Jersey's programs and services.

Over 600,000 people in New Jersey are affected by Alzheimer's and other dementias, including 180,000 individuals with Alzheimer's and over 450,000 of their caregivers," said Ken Zaentz, President and CEO. We're excited to be adding another walk this year in Morris County, which helps to expand our reach and enables even more New Jersey residents to join us."
Alzheimer's New Jersey, formerly called the Alzheimer's Association, Greater New Jersey Chapter, is a local organization and local resource for programs and services that assist those living with Alzheimer's disease and dementia and their caregivers in New Jersey. New Jersey residents rely on Alzheimer's New Jersey for personal and confidential assistance, guidance, relief from caregiving, emotional support and education, safety awareness, and clinical trial opportunities as they face the emotional and financial challenges of Alzheimer's disease that can often be overwhelming.
Walk to Fight Alzheimer's teams are made up of families, friends, and co-workers who come together to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's New Jersey programs and services, as well as research. Corporate, company and individual sponsorships are welcome. Last year the walks raised more than $750,000 and Alzheimer's New Jersey expects some 10,000 walkers this year.
